Sweden played host to England in a friendly match that saw Ibrahimovic score all 4 of Sweden’s goals and undoubtedly the best of those was a spectacular overhead kick from 30 yards out to seal the win!
Although Ibrahimovic’s acrobatics will undoubtedly be the talking point, Hodgson will have been largely pleased with the performance of what was a very youthful England side.
Debuts from Leon Osman, Raheem Sterling and Steven Caulker added to a largely competent England display. Caulker had actually kept Ibrahimavic in check for most of the night and was unlucky when he blocked an initial strike from the Swedish striker only for the ball to pop up for the forward to prod in his first.
England levelled the score when Ashley Young’s cross was volleyed in to the back of the net by Danny Wellbeck before Caulker hit home a Gerrard free kick.
England led 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining before Ibrahimovic showed his class controlled a ball on his chest and then volley home the equaliser and scored a 40 yard free kick only minutes before what is surely to go down as one of the most memorable goals of all time.
England keeper Joe Hart had to scramble out from his goal to clear the ball but a poorly headed clearance saw Ibramhimov swivel and hit an overhead volley from 30 yards out into the back of the net!
