Lukaku Joins WBA on Loan
Chelsea have sent their young striker Romelu Lukaku to West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan deal. The powerfully built Belgian, who made just a handful of appearances for the Blues in his debut season, wanted regular premier league first-team football and so the club has decided to move him out for a season.
The 19-year-old frontman was also on Fulham’s radar but it’s the Baggies who have won the race to sign him. WBA manager Steve Clarke used his Chelsea connections to push his current club ahead of Fulham in the line to sign Lukaku.
The former Anderlecht striker expressed his satisfaction at securing a loan exit from Stamford Bridge and told his parent club’s official website that he ‘can’t wait to start at West Brom.’
Liverpool Sign Swansea Star
Liverpool have announced that they have secured the services of midfielder Joe Allen from Swansea City for a transfer fee that could rise to as much as £15 million. The Welsh international recently passed his medical test and put pen to paper on a premier league ‘long-term contract.’
In his first interview as a Liverpool player, Allen LiverpoolFC.com: “I feel incredible. Everyone knows the history of this club, it’s a massive club, and I’m delighted to have joined….I’m looking forward to being part of some great years ahead for Liverpool.”
Modric Told to Show Respect
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has made it clear to Luka Modric that the club will not let him leave unless someone agrees to pay them exactly the kind of transfer fee that they’re looking for.
Real Madrid did submit a bid for Modric but it fell short of Spurs’ valuation and now Villas-Boas has come forward to say that the rebel playmaker should get his act together since there is a good chance that he might still be a Tottenham player when the transfer window shuts close later this month.
Mancini Criticises Marwood for Lack of Transfer Activity
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has once again hit out at the club’s sporting director Brian Marwood and blamed him for the lack of transfer activity at the club this summer.
The BPL Champions have lost out in the race to sign several of their top transfer targets and Mancini believes Marwood is the reason behind it.
In a recent interview, the Italian coach was asked to disclose his thoughts about the club’s activity in the transfer market, to which he said: “I am not happy. But I won’t say anything at the moment. For this you should talk to Brian Marwood, not me. I am not the sporting director. I can’t say anything about the players.”
