Rooney Welcomes United’s Interest in RVP
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has welcomed his club’s interest in Arsenal superstar Robin van Persie and said that the Dutchman would be a magnificent coup for the Red Devils if the transfer goes through.
Van Persie has also attracted interest from sides such as Manchester City and Juventus in the past but it is Arsenal’s historical rivals Manchester United who are currently in the pole position to land the prolific forward. While his arrival at Old Trafford would significantly increase the competition for places up front, Rooney still wants to see him at his club.
The Daily Mirror have quoted Rooney as saying: “Of course, he’s a player that I admire….If he does come here, he would be a great addition to the squad.”

Moyes Wants Fans to Be Patient with Naismith
Everton manager David Moyes has told the fans that they shouldn’t expect too much too soon from new arrival Steven Naismith, even though he scored a cracking treble against AEK Athens in front of the local crowd on Wednesday.
Naismith spent a major part of the 2011/12 SPL season on the sidelines due to a cruciate knee ligament injury and is working his way back to full fitness. While the Toffees boss was happy with the performance of the former Rangers forward against the Greek club, he doesn’t want to push him into the thick of things ahead of time.

Villa Winger Breaks Metatarsal
Aston Villa winger Marc Albrighton has suffered a broken metatarsal that has forced him on the sidelines for the next few weeks.
The 22-year-old picked up the injury during a training session and has now joined his teammates Gabriel Agbonlahor and Richard Dunne in the Villa treatment room.

Hammers Sign Diarra
West Ham United have confirmed the capture of French midfielder Alou Diarra from Olympique de Marseille for a reported transfer fee of £2 million.
The Premier League newcomers had recently told the press that they are on the cusp of signing a major player and they announced Diarra’s arrival at Upton Park on Friday.
The France international has become the Hammers’ eight signing of the summer but they aren’t expected to put an end to their shopping spree just yet, as they recently launched a bid of £9 million for Wolverhampton winger Matt Jarvis. The offer, however, was knocked back by the Wolves, who have made it clear that they wouldn’t let their player go for anything less than their valuation.
